Report Of Gas Leak Spurs Closure Of Elementary School In Adelanto

ADELANTO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a school in the Inland Empire has been closed for the day after a reported gas leak in the area.

Crews responded to the 15550 Bellflower Street in Adelanto just after 9 a.m. Thursday for a suspected gas leak.

The incident initially prompted Donald F. Bradach Elementary School to be evacuated.

At approximately 10 a.m., authorities decided to shut the school down for the day. Parents have been contacted and told to pick up their kids.

Eight years ago, there was a gas leak at the location and required that crews dig up the cement to fix it.

Out of an abundance of caution and due to the history of the site, authorities decided to close the school.

The leak was initially reported by a teacher who smelled gas.

The gas company and firefighters have responded to the scene and are assessing the situation.

This is a breaking news report. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
