Mike Trout To Sign 6-Year, $145-million Extension With Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will sign their phenom Mike Trout to a six-year, $145-million contract extension, Saturday.

The extension announcement comes a day after Miguel Cabrera signed a record $292-million, 10-year contract.

This has been long-awaited for the 22-year-old outfielder who is currently serving a one-year deal worth $1 million. The figure is highest for a player not eligible for arbitration.

Trout has finished second behind Cabrera in the last two seasons for the American League MVP, hitting .326 with 30 home runs and 49 stolen bases in 2012 and .323 with 97 RBI's and 27 home runs in 2013.

The contract, which will be announced officially Saturday, will be also be record for the highest deal for a player his age.
