Report: LAX Flight Has To Return To Gate After Woman Stung By Scorpion

EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — An LAX flight carrying the Oregon State men's basketball team back to Oregon had to return to the gate after a woman was reportedly stung by a scorpion on board the aircraft.

LAX was unable to confirm the incident, but ESPN reported that the woman, who was reportedly sitting two rows in front of coach Wayne Tinkle, was stung before Alaska Airlines flight 567 had taken off.

According to Tinkle, the plane had flown in from Mexico prior to Oregon State's flight. The woman was taken away in an ambulance to be examined.

OSU sports broadcaster Mike Parker witnessed the event, and tweeted a picture from inside the cabin.

Oregon State had lost to Southern California 68-55 on Saturday at the Galen Center, resulting in USC snapping a massive nine-game skid.

The flight landed in Portland at about 11 p.m. on Saturday.
