Lakers Offer Head Coaching Job To Byron Scott

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former Los Angeles Lakers great Byron Scott could be coming back to the purple and gold.

The Lakers were in talks Friday with Scott for the head coaching position that has been vacant since Mike D'Antoni resigned following the 2013–14 NBA season, CBS2 Sports Director Jim Hill reports.

Scott and the Lakers are reportedly working out details of a contract and could make an announcement as soon as Friday afternoon, according to Hill.

Before the job had been offered to him, Scott interviewed interviewed three separate times.

He last sat on the bench as the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2010 to 2013, where he struggled with a young roster following the departure of superstar LeBron James to the Miami Heat.
