Report: Lakers Agree To Multiyear Extension With GM Kupchak

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Lakers have extended the contract of general manager Mitch Kupchak, according to ESPN Los Angeles.

Kupchak's contract details were unknown as of Tuesday night, but ESPN's Ramona Shelburne suggests that at least one more year has been added on to his current contract.

Kupchak took over for Jerry West as general manager in 2000, following Wests promotion to Vice President of basketball operations, and has helped the team win five titles in his time in Los Angeles.

Additionally, Kupchak played for the Lakers from 1981 to 1986.

The Lakers are in the midst of their worst season in franchise history, and Kupchak's extension is a testament to the Buss family's vote of approval in his work.
