Bryant will not be with the Los Angeles Lakers on the team's upcoming road trip, as he stays behind to have his fractured knee re-examined.
Bryant, who is on his 18th season with the Lakers, believes changes need to be made throughout the organization, not from the roster.
"You have to start with Jim and Jeanie[Buss], and how that relationship plays out," said Bryant. "It starts there in having clear direction, clear authority. Then it goes down to the coaching staff -what they want to D'Antoni. It has start from the top."
Bryant, who was elected to — but unable to play in — his 16th All Star game this year, has only played in six games this season.
With stars such as Steve Nash also sidelined, the Lakers are just 22-42 for the season.
The team, which suffered a record loss to the Clippers last week, has 18 games left and is not eligible to make it to the playoffs.
Bryant signed a two-year contract extension believed to be worth nearly $50 million in November of last year.
