Report: Donald Sterling Plans To Sue NBA If He Is Forced To Sell Clippers

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - As expected, Donald Sterling plans to sue the NBA if the owners vote to force him to sell after making disgusting, racist remarks on a recorded tape published by TMZ, according the NYDailyNews.

"He is not going to sell the team," the executive said to Daily News.

It's not going to be easy to get rid of Sterling. A settlement of this type could take years to resolve.

The first step in hopes of removing Sterling as the Clippers owner was completed Thursday afternoon as the league's advisory/finance committee met to discuss "the process for termination of Donald T. Sterling's ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers," NBA executive vice president Mike Bass said in a statement .

The committee, which involves Lakers executive Vice President Jeanie Buss, will meet again next week.

A forced sale will require at least 23 votes from NBA owners, according to the NBA constitution. Commissioner Silver says he is confident there will be enough votes to get Sterling to sell.
