Renters gave the Los Angeles area a "C" for overall satisfaction, according to the report, released Thursday by ApartmentList.com. Renters gave Los Angeles a "D" for affordability.

The survey took into account responses from about 30,000 renters.

Other lowlights included a "D" grade for quality of schools, and a "C-" for commute times and crime.

Still, Los Angeles got solid marks in one category -- an "A-" for weather.

Rents in Los Angeles have increased by 2.6 percent over the last year -- outpacing the state average, according to a study. A 1-bedroom in Los Angeles has a median rent of $1,950, while the median rent for a 2-bedrooms is $2,600, the study said.
