Officials Identify Man Killed In Redondo Beach Harbor

REDONDO BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Officials Friday released the name of a 36-year-old man who was killed after being swept into the ocean in Redondo Beach.

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, One Nguyen, of Westminster, Colorado, has been identified as the victim.

Around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, multiple witnesses contacted firefighters reporting three people were in the ocean calling for help, according to the Redondo Beach Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, Harbor Patrol located two men and two women at the base of the break wall.

A rescue swimmer dived into the water to help with the rescue effort. A boat then transported them back to the dock.

Paramedics pronounced Nguyen dead at the scene. The other three victims were transported to a hospital in serious condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
