Red Flag Warning Issued For Parts Of Southern California
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Fierce winds, low humidity, high temperatures and very dry vegetation pose a risk for wildfires to spark across Southern California this week, meteorologists said Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service, a red flag warning will remain in effect for the mountain, forest and valley areas from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday.
The strongest winds are expected in the national forests and San Gabriel mountains, especially along Interstate 5, an area which could see sustained wind speeds of between 20 and 35 miles per hour and 50-mph gusts.
Along the coast, a beach hazard statement will be in force through the afternoon. Forecasters predict surf of 4 to 6 feet and sets of up to 7 feet along west-facing beaches.
