Rare Spring Snow Storm Dusts Areas Across San Bernardino County

WRIGHTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Residents woke up Friday to a rare spring snow storm that dusted areas across San Bernardino County.

Less than an inch of light, fluffy, dry snow fell on cars and homes in the area of Wrightwood.

Officials explained chains are required on all vehicles — except 4-wheel-drive vehicles that have snow tires on all four wheels — from Running Springs to Big Bear Dam.

Chains were also required on vehicles traveling four miles east of City Creek Ranger Station and two miles west of Running Springs.

CBS2's Jasmine Viel reported if enough snow falls, the Snow Valley Mountain Resort, located in the San Bernardino Mountains, plans to open for business.

Mammoth officials announced Friday they will remain open past their original closing date.

According to the Rim of the World Unified School District, all schools have been closed due to the inclement weather.
