Rain Lingers Over Southern California, High Temps Forecast For Later This Week

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Lingering rains from a weekend storm are still soaking parts of Southern California, and could for much of the day.

The National Weather Service says there is a 20 percent chance of rain in metropolitan Los Angeles and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys Monday, but a 30 percent chance on Santa Catalina Island and the San Gabriel Valley and a 40 percent chance in the Antelope Valley.

Lower elevations, which got much less rain, are expected to have a cool, damp weekend before summer-style heat returns for much of the week.

The front that moved in early Sunday brought Downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena about a half-inch of rain.

The National Weather Service says parts of Riverside and San Diego County valley areas received almost an inch of rain. The San Bernardino Mountains got nearly 2 1/2 inches of rain.
