Rain Expected To Continue Across Southern California

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — More rain was expected to continue across the Southern California on Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, rainfall is expected to be steady throughout the day, with barely any heavy downpours, which is less likely to create weather problems across the state.

KCAL9's Jasmine Viel spoke with officials, who reported more than 20 accidents are being taken care of by the California Highway Patrol on various freeways across the Southland.

Light pooling was also reported by authorities on the freeways.

Residents living in Orange County and the Inland Empire should also expect to see more rainfall throughout the afternoon, KCAL9's Meteorologist Amber Lee reported.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health cautioned residents on Friday to be careful at beaches while swimming, surfing and playing in ocean waters that are near storm drains, creeks and rivers.

Officials explained bacteria, debris, trash, and other health hazards from city streets and mountain areas were likely to enter the ocean.

The rain advisory is expected to remain in effect until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Viel reported state officials stressed we are still about one third away from removing drought conditions.
