Reckless Female Driver Leads Officers On Chase From San Diego To Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA) — A woman was arrested late Tuesday night after leading officers on a nearly three-hour pursuit along the northbound 5 Freeway from the San Diego area all the way up to Santa Clarita.

The chase began about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on westbound state Route 52, approaching state Route 125 in Santee when California Highway Patrol officers tried to pull over the driver of a Nissan Rogue SUV for speeding, according to Officer Bailey.

A little before 10:30 p.m., the SUV ran out of gas and stopped in the middle lane of the freeway near Magic Mountain Parkway and officers moved in, pulled her from the vehicle and took her into custody, CHP said.

Throughout the chase, the driver used her turn signals when changing lanes.

It's unclear if the driver was the registered owner of the SUV. Her name and the charges she faces were not released.
