Pursuit Of Kidnapping Suspect Ends With Arrest In La Verne

SAN DIMAS (CBSLA) —  Police were in pursuit of a driver suspected of kidnapping from the Long Beach area.

The chase ended with a pit maneuver, then a brief standoff in La Verne before the suspect was caught and arrested.

The pickup truck went speeding across lanes with sparks flying. A tire dangling from the truck and sparking finally fell off.

CHP took all the civilian traffic off the eastbound 210 Freeway to make it safe for the pit maneuver.

The alleged kidnapping victim was the man's girlfriend and was not injured.

CBSLA's Crystal Cruz interviewed the victim.

"I was just scared you know. Thinking I was going to flip on the pursuit," she said. "I was just scared for my life."

The family of the victim called 911 and tracked the truck with an app on their phone as they watched the pursuit on TV from their Long Beach home.
