Pursuit Of Stolen Car Suspect Ends In Crash In Montecito Heights

MONTECITO HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — A police pursuit ended in a crash in Montecito Heights Sunday evening.

The crash occurred at Monterey Road and Via Marisol, near Avenue 57.

Desmond Shaw, flying overhead in Sky 2, said the suspect apparently crashed into a tree and tried to flee on foot.

The suspect was taken into custody.

There was talk of closing down the northbound 110 Freeway in the area to search for a weapon the suspect allegedly tossed from the vehicle.

Later, police said the man was wanted for stealing the vehicle. It was unclear if he had a weapon or if one was recovered.
