Puddle Of Mudd Frontman Charged With Vandalizing Home Lost To Foreclosure

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The frontman of a rock band was charged Wednesday with vandalizing a home he recently lost to foreclosure.

Wesley Scantlin, 43, is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday on charges of felony vandalism and misdemeanor trespassing. The Puddle of Mudd singer was found at the house on Jan. 9 and arrested, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors say Scantlin broke a window to get into a home, in the 1500 block of Sunset Plaza Drive, which he recently lost to foreclosure. When his attempt to get in through a window failed, Scantlin allegedly called a locksmith to change the locks.

Scantlin also ripped an alarm system out of a wall, according to prosecutors, who said other damage was found to a garage door and plumbing. The damage to the home totaled nearly $7,000.

Bail is being recommended at $20,000. If convicted as charged, Scantlin faces a possible maximum sentence of three years in county jail.

This is not Scantlin's first brush with the law. On Sept. 4, 2012, he was arrested in Austin after an altercation with a flight attendant on a cross-country flight from Boston to Los Angeles, which led to an emergency landing in Austin. He was charged with public intoxication in that case.
