Public's Help Sought In Identifying Woman Whose Bones Were Found In OC Park

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBSLA.com) — The Orange County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a woman whose remains were found in San Juan Capistrano earlier this year.

The bones were discovered Jan. 6 in a remote area of Caspers Wilderness Park by a passerby.

"We've determined the body, or the remains, had been out there at least six months just based on how badly decomposed the body was...we didn't actually recover a body. We recovered just bones," sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock said.

After preliminary testing, it was determined the deceased was a petite woman, at least 30 years of age, with shoulder length wavy dark brown hair and light colored highlights.

"She has some distinct dental work, a gold bridge in her mouth," Hallock said.

Clothing recovered from the scene consisted of:

-A small, dark colored windbreaker type of jacket, which was manufactured by Auburn Sportswear. The front side of the jacket had the embroidered words "Coach Williams" on it. The left side of the jacket had a logo depicting a volleyball or a water polo ball.

-A pair of dark colored athletic yoga style pants made of spandex/cotton with light colored stripes down the side of both legs and a rear positioned zipper.

-A pinkish speckled short sleeved or tank top T-shirt with a black line design.

-A bright green hair scrunchie band.
