Public To Weigh In On Proposed Changes To Metro Bus Service

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Metro officials were expected to hear from the public Wednesday on proposed changes to Metro bus service to take effect later this year.

KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports Metro will hold the first of a series of five hearings starting tonight through Thursday of next week.

The proposed changes affect 15 of Metro's 200 bus lines and include modifications for services to Bob Hope Airport, Westwood and the Sherman Oaks corridor.

Some service changes would include discontinued weekend service from Sunland Boulevard to Bob Hope Airport and a proposed new express line service that would operate via Van Nuys Boulevard from Nordhoff Street to the Metro Orange Line.

While Metro has made changes before thanks to input from the public, spokesman Rick Jager said some of the changes they're now considering come directly from riders.

"We try to get their feedback in terms of what's working out there, what's not working out there, and what they think about these proposed changes that we're advocating," Jager said.

Anyone unable to attend the hearings can submit written testimony postmarked through midnight Feb. 14.

A public hearing for a proposed Metro fare hike (PDF) is scheduled for March 29.
