BELL GARDENS (CBSLA.com) — A public memorial will be held Monday for the slain mayor of Bell Gardens.

Mayor Daniel Crespo, 45, was fatally shot by his wife on Sept. 30 at their Bell Gardens apartment, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Crespo, and his wife, Lyvette, were involved in a family fight when the shooting occurred.

Lyvette Crespo has not been arrested for the crime and charges have not been filed, according to the District Attorney's Office.

The public memorial will be held at 5 p.m. at Rose Hills Memorial Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Road in Whittier.

A private service will be held Tuesday for family and invited guests.
