Man Convicted Of Planting Drugs In PTA Volunteer's Car Disbarred

SANTA ANA (CBSLA/AP) — An Irvine attorney convicted along with his then-wife of planting drugs in the car of a PTA volunteer has been disbarred.

The State Bar says 43-year-old Kent Easter can no longer practice in California because of his felony conviction and "moral turpitude."

Kent Easter and Jill Easter — who now goes by Ava Everheart — were both convicted of false imprisonment in separate criminal trials. She was disbarred in 2014.

The couple planted prescription painkillers, marijuana and a pot pipe in Kelli Peters' car in 2011 and then called police, who briefly detained her.

The couple had an ongoing dispute with Peters over what they believed was improper treatment of their son. Easter's DNA was ultimately found on one of the pills and the marijuana pipe.

The couple was ordered by a jury to pay Peters $5.7 million following a civil trial, according to the Orange County Register.
