Police shoot, kill man allegedly armed with knife in Northridge

Police fatally shot a man allegedly armed with a knife in Northridge early Sunday. 

The incident unfolded just after 11:10 a.m. in the 18400 block of Malden Street, where Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched after learning of the armed man. 

Circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear and it was not immediately known was prompted officers to open fire on the suspect. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene. They have not released any further information on the suspect. 

Police said the area of Canby Avenue and Chase Street will be impacted for several hours.
