Man Kneeling Near Railroad Tracks Charges At Deputies With Knife, Prompting Them To Open Fire, Officials Say

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Authorities on Sunday continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting in the city of Industry.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said the incident occurred at the intersection of Railroad Street and Azusa Avenue in the city of Industry.

No deputies were hurt; however, a male suspect was struck by gunfire.

The incident unfolded just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, when deputies responded to a call of a person hit by a train.

When they arrived, they saw the suspect kneeling near the tracks. As they approached, deputies say the man charged at them with a knife in his hand, prompting deputies to open fire.

The suspect was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
