Power Outage Hits Parts Of Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach

HERMOSA BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Power outages left more than 2,000 Southern California Edison customers, including some in the area of the Redondo Beach Pier, in the dark on Sunday evening, according to police and the utility company.

There are two circuits involved in the power outage, according to SCE. Some 1,868 customers in an area bounded by Herondo Street, Pacific Coast Highway, Sixth Street and The Strand were without service in Hermosa Beach. Meanwhile, about 200 customers in Redondo Beach, generally north of Carnelian Street and west of PCH, were also without power.

Redondo Beach police reported just before 7 p.m. that the pier area would be closed due to the power outage, but service was restored there by 7:30 p.m. An alert sent by Redondo Beach indicated the pier would not be closed as a result.

SCE said it expects to have all power restored by 6 a.m. Monday.
