Power Outage 'Blacks Out' Several Intersections In Simi Valley

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Utility crews Tuesday worked to restore power to several residential neighborhoods in Simi Valley.

According to the Simi Valley Police Department, a power outage was reported shortly after 5:30 a.m. in the area of Cochran Street between Erringer Road and Justin Avenue.

Authorities said the outage has completely "blacked out" several intersections along Cochran Street -- Erringer Road, Justin Avenue, and other nearby areas -- as traffic signals have failed.

Simi Valley Public Works crews will place stop signs at the affected intersections.

Per California state law, "blacked out" intersections requires motorists to make a complete stop before proceeding, officials said.

Officials have not yet reported how many residents have been affected by the outage.

The cause of the outage remains unknown.
