Power Outage Affecting Hundreds Of Long Beach Residents

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A failed cross arm on a power pole in Long Beach Saturday reportedly left as many as 825 customers in the dark.

As of 8 a.m., 220 customers remained without electricity, with full restoration expected by 1 p.m., according to Maureen Brown of Southern California Edison.

The outage was first reported at 5:24 a.m., Brown said.

This is the latest in a series of outages affecting Long Beach. Dozens of residents turned out for a town hall meeting on Aug. 22  to discuss their frustrations with repeated outages this summer. SoCal Edison executives in attendance acknowledged missteps on their part and said they'd try to do better.
