Suspicious Device Deemed Safe On Long Beach City College Campus

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A suspicious device found on the liberal arts campus of Long Beach Community College was deemed safe Thursday.

A threat was anonymously called in at 9:10 a.m. stating there was a suspicious device in a car in the 4900 block of East Carson Street, Long Beach police said.

The school sent out an emergency alert at 10:35 a.m. to all students, staff and faculty stating there was "a possible explosive device" on school grounds.

Long Beach police evacuated five buildings on the campus and several classes were cancelled.

The device was later deemed safe by the bomb squad.
