Portion Of Pacific Coast Highway Reopened In Malibu

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Nearly six miles of a nine-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway that was closed north of Malibu in December have been reopened to public access, Caltrans announced Tuesday.

The roadway is now open from Las Posas Road to the Sycamore Cove Day Use Area, Caltrans reported.

"The public will now have access to trails and beaches in Point Mugu State Park," according to a Caltrans statement.

The highway remains closed between the Sycamore Cove Day Use Area and Yerba Buena Road, and the closure is expected to extend through the end of this month.

The roadway was closed following rain storms, debris slides and strong waves in the Springs Fire burn area.
