Portion Of Metro Gold Line Track To Remain Closed Following Fiery Big Rig Crash

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A portion of the Metro Gold Line track will remain closed until at least Saturday following a fiery crash on the 210 Freeway.

Two big rigs collided near Allen Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, causing one of the big rigs to settle on the train tracks. The freeway was shut down for several hours following the incident.

Metro officials say the incident caused extensive damage to the overhead power supply, as well as the tracks.

Buses are now being utilized to transport commuters between the Sierra Madre Villa and Lake Avenue stations.

Trains will continue running every 10 to 12 minutes, but passengers who need to be shuttled between the two affected stations should allow themselves extra time.

Officials say they are bringing in 14 buses to help commuters.

Metro recommends travelers park at the Del Mar or Fillmore lots instead of the Sierra Madre Villa station.
