Popular Downtown LA Dog Park Now Charging Visitors $60 For Access Key

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The organization that runs a shuttered dog park in downtown Los Angeles' arts district is hoping for enough donations to reopen the popular pooch hangout.

The Los Angeles Downtown Arts District Dog Park is a private park run by the Los Angeles River Artists & Business Association.

Last month, the park was locked up and dog owners were asked to pay $60 for a key to use the park for six months.

"It has been a costly endeavor to keep the park open and operational and we need your help moving forward," a sign posted on the park fence last month reads.

"Your money will help offset the costs for the basics: Property Tax, Insurance, Electricity, Water, and minor maintenance. That doesn't cover trash pick up or supplies (yet) – so please chip in and keep it clean, safe and usable," the sign continued.

Keys can now be purchased at The Corner Store on Traction Avenue and Hewitt Street.

For more information, visit the park's Facebook page.
