2 people dead after police pursuit in Pomona ends in crash

Two people are dead after a police pursuit in Pomona ended in a crash on Wednesday night.

Around 9:33 p.m., officers from the Pomona Police Department responded to a domestic violence call in the 400 block of E. Tenth Street.

When officers arrived and made contact with the victim, the suspect returned to the residence in a truck and intentionally hit one of the patrol vehicles before speeding away.

Police initiated a pursuit traveling southbound on Garey Avenue. The suspect crashed into another vehicle near Garey Avenue and County Road. Both the driver and passenger in the victim vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers found a firearm and other firearm components inside the suspect's vehicle. Pomona police said the suspect was driving without a valid license.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked for vehicular manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon on a Peace Officer, driving under the influence, driving without a valid license, felony evasion, and firearm-related charges. 

The identities of the victims from the crash are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
