Dana Point Police Standoff Ends, Suspect In Custody

DANA POINT (CBSLA.com) — A police standoff in a Dana Point neighborhood ended Sunday evening, according to the Orange County's Sheriff's Department.

The SWAT team deployed gas to make entry into the condo where a man was held up and refusing to exit. The suspect was taken into custody.

The standoff started at 11 a.m. Sunday morning after neighbors heard a bullet go through a window.

It happened near Niguel Road and Tennis Villas Drive.

Sheriffs said they first got the call Sunday morning from neighbors saying they heard a gunshot.

When they arrived the woman inside the condo said the gun went off accidentally. She came out. Neighbors said they saw her being taken away in handcuffs.

The man inside her condo was rumored to be her boyfriend.

Neighbors said the woman who lives in the condo is on the board of the condo association.

Sunday evening, Sherrif's Deputies in tactical gear were  trying to make contact with the man inside of the condo.
