Police Search For Shooting Suspect In Boyle Heights After Officer Needs Help Call
BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA) — A perimeter was set up Tuesday night as police responded to an officer needs help call in downtown Los Angeles after an officer-involved shooting took place in the area of 1st and Gless streets.
Around 10 p.m., officers with the Hollenbeck Division attempted to stop a pedestrian when there was an exchange of gunfire. It was not immediately disclosed why the officers attempted to stop the pedestrian, described as a Hispanic man.
One officer sustained minor injuries, not from gunfire, and SWAT and K-9 officers continued searching for the suspect early Wednesday morning.
It was not immediately clear if the suspect was struck by gunfire.
SWAT and K9 is at the scene and are conducting a search. At this time, it is unknown if the suspect was struck by gunfire. As mentioned earlier, an officer sustained a minor injury during the incident, but not from gunfire.

Drivers and residents were told to avoid the area and to expect a large police presence.
Metro Gold Line service in the area was affected by the search. Trains skipped the Pico/Aliso Station and no trains were operating between the Mariachi Plaza/Boyle Heights and Little Tokyo/Arts District stations.
