Police Seek Tips On Beating Near Koreatown

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Sunday were asking for the public's help in identifying the person, or people, suspected of badly beating a 23-year-old man and leaving him at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.

At around 4:00 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department received a call that a man was lying face down on the sidewalk at the busy intersection. The victim, identified as Giovanni Medina of Los Angeles, was unconscious and had suffered blunt force trauma to the head. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition.

LAPD West Bureau homicide detectives are asking anyone with information on the suspected beating to call investigators at (213)382-9470 during business hours, or 877-527-3247 on weekends. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call 1-800-222-TIPS.
