Police Seek Attempted Robbery Suspect Of Ventura Grocery Store

VENTURA COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — Officers were searching for a male suspect Sunday that allegedly attempted to rob a grocery store in Ventura last night.

According to the Ventura Police Department, officers were sent just before 10:30 p.m. to a Vons located in the 2400 block of Harbor Boulevard Saturday for reports of an attempted robbery.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly entered the grocery store and immediately went to a female cashier located at one of the registers.

He demanded that she opened the register, however, the cashier fled along with another employee and a customer in fear.

Police said the suspect was not able to obtain any money and quickly ran away from the store.

Several minutes later, employees called 911 and reported the crime, officials said.

Authorities said they searched the area for the suspect, but did not locate him.

Officers described the suspect as a male that weighs 175 pounds and stands 5-foot-10 tall.

He was seen wearing a ski mask, a blue flannel shirt and black pants during the attempted robbery.

The investigation is ongoing.
