Police Searching For Serial Burglars In Mar Vista Area

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — One homeowner is grateful for his home security system after two people were caught on camera jumping his fence into his backyard.

He says two men broke a window to gain entry into his home, before the alarm went off and they burglars quickly fled after jumping over the backyard fence.

"We're glad that it wasn't any worse than it was," said the man who preferred to remain anonymous out of concern for his own safety.

"They turned around and ran out, they were only in for seconds," he added.

Police say his home is one of a dozen that was broken into within the last week in the Mar Vista area.

"There's a lot on social media sites, and every time I run into one of my neighbors, there's some talk of somebody getting broken into," neighbor Sophie Snyder said.
