CBS News Los Angeles

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who allegedly struck and killed a 28-year-old woman riding a scooter in the Westmont area on Tuesday.

It happened at around midnight on Figueroa Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Investigators say that a car was traveling northbound on the street when they struck the woman who was crossing westbound near Colden Avenue. Instead of stopping to help, the driver fled from the scene, continuing in the same direction.

The victim, identified as Kelly Calderon, was declared dead at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

As with all deadly hit-and-run crashes in the city of Los Angeles, a standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered for anyone who can provide information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Investigators ask anyone who knows more to contact them at (323) 421-2500.
