Police Searching For Clues In Fatal Tustin Shooting

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Police responded to a shooting in a tree-lined neighborhood at about 4 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses said they saw a man who appeared to be in his 20s bloody in the 1600 block of Mitchell Avenue. Officers warned neighbors with a megaphone from a police helicopter about possible suspects in the neighborhood and told them to stay indoors.

The victim, later identified as 23-year-old Israel Corpus, died at a hospital, Tustin police said.

Police now believe the shooter of shooters have moved on and the danger to neighbors has passed.

Investigators believe there are gang ties between the shooter and the victim.
