Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver Accused Of Killing Moreno Valley Man

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Officers continued their investigation Saturday into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 32-year-old male pedestrian struck by a vehicle last night.

According to the Moreno Valley Police Department, officers were sent around 6:44 p.m. Friday to the area of Alessandro Boulevard, between Kitching Street and Chara Street, for report of a major-injury traffic collision.

Once on scene, firefighters located a man lying unresponsive in the roadway.

According to the Riverside County Coroner's Office, Andrew Delgado, of Moreno Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police explained a preliminary investigation revealed Delgado was walking in the eastbound lanes of Alessandro Boulevard, east of Kitching Street, when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, heading eastbound from the collision.

Lanes of Alessandro Boulevard, between Kitching Street and Lasselle Street, were closed in both directions for about six hours while police investigated.
