Police Search For Bank Robber Who Wore Shower Cap During Tustin Heist

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching Friday for a gunman who wore a shower cap as he robbed a bank in Tustin.

A robber entered the US Bank branch in the 13400 block of Newport Avenue at about 11:32 a.m. Thursday and handed a teller a note demanding money, Tustin police Sgt. Andrew Birozy said.

"As the teller was reading the note, the suspect produced a black handgun," Birozy said. "After the robbery, the suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries."

The gunman is described as a black man, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, 165 to 190 pounds, wearing a black shower cap, prescription glasses, a black shirt, dark pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information that could help investigators identify the suspect can call Tustin police Detective R. Newton at (714) 573-3249 or (714) 573-3225.
