Police saved a man who was trapped inside of a burning garage in Santa Ana early Saturday morning.

It happened at around 2:15 a.m. at a home in the 800 block of S. Flower Street, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Firefighters say that Santa Ana Police Department officers forced open a door on the converted garage on the property that had caught fire, allowing the man to escape. He was taken to a nearby hospital with severe burns, they said.

Crews were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the nearby house.
