Police Raid Nets 2 Men Suspected Of Torching Pasadena House
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A police SWAT team helped bring in two men Friday night suspected of setting fire to an unoccupied Pasadena house.
The suspects were taken into police custody around 7:30 p.m. at their home in the 800 block of North Oakland Avenue, just 100 feet from the burned property, according to Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department.
The house was allegedly destroyed New Year's Eve, a mile north of the Rose Parade route that took place the following day. Investigators had reason to suspect it was arson after finding materials inside the house used to make pipe bombs.
The home's owner died several months ago, Derderian said.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported the suspects' names as Steven Reimer, 28, and Hosea Dileoreto, 18. Both were being held on suspicion of arson, Lt. Vasken Gourdikian of the Pasadena Police Department said.
Police say the suspects were under surveillance the past few days until they had enough information to obtain a warrant.
Derderian says the fire was an isolated incident and residents in that community should feel safer now that the suspects are in custody.
