Police Officer, Deputy Shoot Pursuit Suspect In San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A 19-year-old man who was shot by authorities at the end of a pursuit remained hospitalized Monday.
According to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent around 3:00 p.m. Sunday to a home located in the area of 28th Street and Glenview for report of a domestic disturbance.
Upon their arrival, authorities located the armed suspect, who was later identified as Sixto Casillas, of Muscoy, driving a black Explorer away from the area.
A short pursuit then ensued. The chase terminated when Casillas crashed into a fence and brandished a weapon.
Deputies then requested assistance from the San Bernardino Police Department.
In fear for their lives, a sheriff's deputy and police officer both fired their weapons at him.

At this time, it remains unclear how many rounds were fired.
Paramedics transported Casillas to a hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds. He remains listed in critical condition and is undergoing surgery, according to hospital officials.
No other injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
