Police: Man Broke Into Temecula Home, Stabbed Woman While She Slept

TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — A man was in police custody Friday after he allegedly broke into a Riverside County woman's home in the middle of the night and stabbed her as she slept.

The stabbing took place just before 3 a.m. Thursday in the 30600 block of Milky Way in Temecula, authorities said.

According to police, an unknown man entered the home while the woman was asleep on the couch.

"The victim reported she woke up after feeling a sharp pain and observed the suspect flee from the residence on foot," Det. Jeff Fisher said.

Officers searched the area around the home, but were unable to locate the suspect.

"After examining the evidence at the scene and after additional investigative leads were pursued, an adult male suspect was located and arrested for the attack," Det. Fisher said.

The suspect's identity was not released, but he was booked on attempted murder and residential burglary charges.
