Police: Irvine Double Shooting Appears To Be Murder-Suicide

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Preliminary evidence in the shooting deaths of a man and a woman in Irvine indicates it was a murder-suicide of a mother and son, police said Thursday.

The shooting was reported just after 12:20 p.m. at a home on Hexham Street in the Turtle Rock Community of Irvine.

Irvine detectives say evidence at the scene suggests the son shot his mother, then turned the gun on himself. A handgun was recovered from the scene.

Their identities were withheld and will be released by the coroner's office, police said.

Police say there were no other injuries reported, and no indication of an outstanding suspect or further danger to the surrounding community.

The shooting remains under investigation.
