Police Investigating After Man Hurt In Shooting On 5 Freeway

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) —  Police say a car was shot at on the freeway near the Citadel shopping outlet and the victim got off in Boyle Heights and called police.  LAPD and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene at East First Street and South Boyle Avenue about 8:40 p.m. Monday.

The car has a bullet hole in the windshield, and the driver was treated at the scene by the L.A. Fire Department. Police said the driver apparently was struck by shrapnel from the shooting rather than the bullet itself.

Police are looking for a blue Chevrolet Suburban suspected to have been involved in the shooting.
