Clerk Shot Twice During Attempted Liquor Store Robbery In Sylmar

SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — A liquor store clerk was shot twice during an attempted robbery Tuesday night in Sylmar.

Police were called to El Rancho Market and Liquor in the 13500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard about 8:40 p.m. on a report of a possible robbery, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The suspect, described as a black man in a green shirt with two red bandanas over his face, fired at the clerk as he tried to fire his own weapon.

The clerk was wounded twice and transported to a local hospital in critical, but stable condition.

One customer was inside the business at the time of the attempted robbery, but was not injured.

The suspect fled the scene without stealing anything from the store. He fled the scene in a silver Honda and was last seen traveling northbound.
