Police In Simi Valley Investigate Afternoon Shooting At Shopping Center

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) —  Police in Simi Valley are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday just before 2:10 p.m.

The incident occurred at a shopping center located at 5135 Los Angeles Avenue.

The victim's wound was described as non-fatal. The adult male was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Officials said the suspect, an adult male, is still at large but do not believe he is a threat to the community.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being investigated, authorities said.

Sky2 reported the shooting occurred just outside a pizza restaurant.

The police said they were following up on leads received by witnesses.

Authorities said the suspect was seen fleeing in a black Chrysler 300.

Detectives have determined the vehicle has a possible plate of 6CKM046 and released a statement saying they are "actively searching" for the suspect.
