Narcotics Suspect Surrenders After OC Pursuit Along 5 Freeway

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBSLA.com) — Police took a suspect into custody Tuesday after a high-speed chase on the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway in southern Orange County.

The chase reportedly began in the Paramount area around 1 p.m. when the suspect failed to yield for police, according to California Highway Patrol.

The driver had made his way south down the 5 Freeway into Orange County through the San Juan Capistrano area, reaching speeds as high as 100 miles per hour, authorities said.

He was taken into custody in the Del Mar area around 2:10 p.m.

As many as three suspects were initially reported to be in the vehicle, but officials later confirmed the suspect was the sole occupant.
