Police: Alleged Gang Member Commits Home-Invasion Robbery In Jurupa Valley

JURUPA VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A reported gang member was arrested Saturday for allegedly forcing his way into and robbing an elderly couple's home.

Albert Sandoval, 21, was nabbed around 4:30 a.m. as he reportedly ran from the home in the 7000 block of Big Rock Drive, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Mike Manning said.

Sandoval had allegedly forced his way into the house and attacked an 81-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman.

The couple was taken to a hospital and treated for moderate injuries.

Deputies scoured the area for other possible suspects but determined Sandoval likely acted alone.

The suspect was booked on suspicion of several charges, including home invasion robbery, elder abuse and violating the terms of his post-release supervision. Sandoval also faces a gang-related charge that could lengthen a prison sentence, Manning said.

He remained in custody with no bail set.
